Whitney Sanders, Wellness Coordinator
Hello, my name is Whitney Sanders.
I’d love to tell you a little bit about who I am and what my job responsibilities are at John-Wesley Villas Inc., as the Wellness Coordinator.
I started working for John-Wesley Villas Inc. in September of 2016. I have been a nurse for twelve years. I graduated from Central Georgia Technical College right here in Macon, Georgia in 2009. Before my job with John-Wesley Villas Inc. I worked on a Rehabilitation/Medical Surgery floor straight out of school. I took some time off to raise my children, which is a fulltime nursing job in itself!
John Wesley Villas Inc. uses a Wellness Team to provide the best care available. The Team consists of a health care specialist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, home care provider, home health, pharmacist, pharmacy, audiologist, and a podiatrist.
I act as a referral source for residents and families to keep residents in their very best health. I have an open communication policy with all of our resident’s families. They know they can call or text me any time regarding their family member. I believe that relationship is just as significant as the one I have with the resident. They trust me, and I value that. I rely on my communication skills to work well with a variety of people, including medical providers, staff members, residents and their families. I ensure services comply with state requirements. My goal is in prevention before a medical crisis occurs. I work closely with the pharmacy and we have weekly meetings with our Home Health team.
My favorite part of my job is our residents! I love getting to know them. I love sitting down with them to hear their words of wisdom and listen to their stories. We have some truly amazing residents living in our retirement community! I came from working in the hospital where there is less time to get to know the patients and families. Here you build a relationship with the residents as well as their families.
