John-Wesley Villas: A 40-Year Legacy of Family and Heart

The story of John-Wesley Villas is more than just a history of a building; it is the story of a family’s lifelong commitment to the seniors of the Southeast. While the John-Wesley Villas name became a cornerstone of the Macon community in 1986, the roots of this mission stretch back nearly 70 years.

The Foundation of Care The legacy began in 1958 with Reverend Tyler J. Rauls, Sr. A Methodist Minister with an unyielding commitment to retirees, Rev. Rauls built the first new nursing facility in Macon. Growing up in this environment, his son, Frank Rauls, witnessed firsthand the importance of "servant leadership" and the profound impact that a dedicated, family-oriented approach could have on the quality of life for seniors.

1986: A New Vision for Retirement In 1986, Frank Rauls and his brother, T.J. took their father’s vision to the next level by founding John-Wesley Villas, Inc. in Macon. At a time when senior care was often clinical and institutional, the brothers helped jump-start the modern concept of Assisted Living. Their goal was to create a community that felt like home; a place where independence was celebrated, but support was always within reach.

Expanding the Horizons: Preston Pointe Following the success in Macon, the family acquired Preston Pointe in Morrisville, North Carolina, in 2013. By bringing this premier property into the fold, Frank applied the same "family-first" philosophy to the Research Triangle area, eventually launching a multi-million dollar renovation in recent years to ensure the community remains the gold standard for luxury senior living.

A Family Affair Frank’s dedication ensured that the business remained a true family-owned and operated endeavor. Today, as the community celebrates its 40th anniversary, the third generation, Frank’s children, John and Ashley Rauls, continue the work he began under the Rauls Living, Inc. umbrella. Frank currently serves as Chairman of the Board, providing strategic oversight and mentoring his children as they lead John-Wesley Villas and Preston Pointe into the future.
